KNITTING: This is a very old 1940s knitting pattern for women short socks and “footlets”. It probably pre-dated this print as it uses the old word “recipe” instead of “pattern”.  It is a classic pattern for some plain ankle socks, but with some subtle stitch patterns and  lovely elegant knitting techniques.

The useful footlets or “invisible” socks, trainer socks, liners etc. are knitted on 2 needles - the sock all on 4 needles.

Perfect for tennis, or anything else requiring exquisite little ladylike socks, and those who just like knitting socks! :)
