KNITTING: A cute sitting donkey in vintage retro style from a 1970s “bazaar makes” booklet. Easy to knit on 2 needles (flat pieces) using DK weight ( or 4ply wool doubled) in easy garter stitch (all plain knitting)-and is about 8 inches (20cm) high, to ear tips.
The little blanket is crocheted but can easily be made also in garter stitch if you prefer.
Donkey ornaments became popular as people started to have holidays in Spain –hence the colourful blanket he wears in this knitted version. (I also have a similarly inspired little knitted toy bull pattern!)
