KNITTING: this sweet and realistic monkey  is another from the Barbara Barlow vintage 1961 book of “Hobbie Toys”.

This very talented designer usually does not give a size or knitting tension-but all the toys in the original booklet are quite large. As a guide there are  48 rows for the arm (without the hand) so once you have selected a yarn you will be able to calculate the finished size. It is knitted in the mohair-which  is usually knitted on larger needles but the smaller ones are given will produce a dense “fur” -which is then brushed with a wire (“teasel”) brush. The 4ply wool used for the hands, feet and face.
