CROCHET: This is a charming little mandala pattern; originally made in fine cotton thread as a table doyley (doily) in 3 sizes. The very vintage Penelope Briggs pattern is described as being used “for a dressing table “cheval” set or as a luncheon set of mats...”

It is a dainty pretty thing in crochet thread - nice for a window hanging or used as an embellishment on anything. (Maybe on a bag, cushion or even for decorating part of a wedding dress !)

However this pattern can be worked to any size you like-even in thicker garment weight cottons or wool; or in many colours, as the basis for one of the now fashionable “mandala” crochet discs.

It can also be used for making a “doily rug” if made in thick yarn or recycled   “t shirt yarn”... [I would suggest using the “small” motif for this use as it is a denser fabric mesh.]

Just use your imagination and have fun with it.
